Thanks to recent technological advances in orthopedics and beyond, accurate preoperative planning through 3D reconstruction of injuries and the production of bone, or joint, substitutes through digital fabrication are now possible in order to improve treatments on patients in the direction of personalized surgical approaches. Starting from CT or MRI images, it is now possible to make biomodels that are useful in the diagnostic phase, as well as to plan surgeries and design prostheses tailored to the patient's morphological characteristics and the type of surgery, in a constant discussion between the various technologists and the surgeon who will perform the surgery. The purpose of this workshop, consisting of two interconnected events, is to provide a
comprehensive overview of the practical 3D applications in medicine. In particular, the “Energy Group” event on the first day will be devoted to the presentation of various technological aspects related to 3D printing devices in the medical field, with special on-site demonstrations; on the
following two days, the “Materialise Mimics Course” will be devoted to anatomical modeling and virtual surgical design through a specially dedicated software platform. We have developed an exciting program to provide a summary of key information and applications, presented by experts in the field. For all professionals who use these new technologies, i.e., surgeons, radiologists, engineers, various technologists, and others, this workshop is an event not to be missed.
